Mnemos

Era en la propia mitología griega la mnemos, o memoria, una extraña divinidad y cualidad natural, pues Mnemósine, diosa de la memoria, era considerada al mismo tiempo la madre de las nueve Musas, también conocidas como diosas de la inspiración o de las artes. Resulta ser esta dualidad mitológica de la memoria inquietante y atractiva; ¿será la memoria la madre de todas las artes y ciencias?
No es tanto la memoria lo que aquí interesa, sino más bien el estudio de la Cultura, así pues debe entenderse el nombre de este grupo de trabajo como un tributo a uno de los precursores de los estudios de la cultura, el alemán Aby Warburg, quien, principalmete a través de los estudios del arte, intentó analizar toda una serie de rasgos culturales tanto en épocas Clásicas como en la Edad Moderna.

Somos conscientes de los peligros que entraña el término Cultura, de sus múltiples usos y definiciones, y sin embargo estamos dispuestos a convertirlo en nuestro objeto de estudio predilecto. Nuestro interés en la Cultura derivaría en primera instancia de la que fue la Kultuur alemana descrita por Herder, no existe pues una única Cultura, sino que hay distintas culturas con diferentes rasgos, siguiendo esta interpretación, a lo largo de las páginas que compongan la producción intelectual de este grupo podrán encontrarse artículos y estudios sobre diversas formas y prácticas culturales, desarrolladas a lo largo de distintos períodos, a pesar de que estará más volcado en el estudio de aquellas que han tenido y tienen lugar en la época contemporánea.
Nuestra labor irá dirigida a colocarnos, a nuestros lectores y a nosotros mismos, en la vía de entender la cultura desde una perspectiva más amplia, una perspectiva que nos permita un acercamiento multidisciplinar y mutliparadigmático a la misma, superando las barreras que normalmente la constriñen.

Mnemos

Mnemos, the Memory, was already in the Greek mythology a strange godess and a natural quality, like this Mnemosyn was the godess of the memory but also it was considered at the same time, the mother of the nine Muse also known as the Inspiration godess or as well as the Arts godess. It is this mythologic duality of the memory disturbing and at the same time appealing; will the memory be the mother of all the arts and sciences?
Even though here we are not concerned with the memory itself, we are much more interested in the study of the Culture, so the name we had given to this research group should be understood like a tribute to one of the first scholars of the Culture, the german Aby Warburg, who, pricipally by studing arts, tryed to analize a whole serie of cultural features during the classical period and the Modern Ages. We are aware of how dangerous is using the term Culture, of the multiple definitions and uses that this word have, but on the other hand we are willing to make it our main researching object. Our interest in the Culture it’s concerned with what Herder has describe in the late seventeeth century, what has been known as the Kultur, that will be in the way of the cultural relativism, there is not only a unique culture but there are different cultures with different features, is in the following of this path that you will be able to find the intellectual activity of the group, under the form of articles, reviews and studies of the differents forms and cultural practices that have been developed by the societies, residing the main interest in those that took place during the contemporary period.
Our labour will point in the way of making ourselves, and our readers, understand the Culture in a more open perspective, we want this particular point of vieuw to have a multidisciplinary and multiparadigmatic approaches, being able to overcome the bounderies that normally surround the Culture.
